Description

We are renting out our lovely home in Westmount. We are going away on a trip around the world and have decided to let someone else enjoy our beautiful home while we are gone. Rental start and end dates are negotiable, but something around (plus or minus) start of August this year to end of March next year. Could be longer if you need - or shorter. Let's talk! Okay, so we've owned this character house for over 20 years and have been doing non stop improvements to it. The list of what we've done is too long to write out here. Suffice to say that just in terms of unique features I count over 100 special little things that we've done. Some you can see and other are behind the scenes that you can't see (just one such example would be thicker concrete and more rebar in the garage pad). But anyway, there are so many great things we've done to the house. Here's a few to get you interested: #1 biggest thing we did was preserve the house by replacing its entire concrete foundation. Yes, we hired a company to lift out house off its foundations, dig out all the original concrete, dig a deeper basement, pour new concrete (and did so as "ICF" if you know what that is), and then put the house back on the new foundation. Also, beautiful new hardwood floors on main level. Heated floors in kitchen, 2nd floor bathroom, and entirely throughout basement. Added bathrooms on the main floor and basement. Can you believe these original character houses had just one bathroom!? I built a huge garage. EASILY fits two cars and my work benches and more. Garage has a 2nd storey with indoor staircase for more storage upstairs. Frustrated with our kitchen fridge always being full I recently added a 2nd fridge by the kitchen. And even that wasn't enough for when we're lazy and want a cold drink or snack while in the basement so there's now a mini fridge downstairs to get our house up to 3 fridges. Granite countertops, designer black kitchen sink and faucet Real wood burning fireplace in living room including heat ventilation to upstairs Internet controlled smart front door lock, and internet zone control thermostats for separate basement and upstairs heating. Built a wonderful 500 sq. ft. back deck with plenty of room for our large outdoor dining table, BBQ, and outdoor sofa set. All new kitchen appliances done in stainless steel. New "all in one" laundry machine. That's right - washer and dryer in one machine. No need to transfer clothes from the washer to the dryer any more. Huge 75" TV in basement rec area. With a Play Station and a car racing simulator setup (pedals, and a force-feedback steering wheel). Bedroom (or currently a crafting room) in the basement with another large TV set up in there. Entire interior painted 2024, and entire exterior painted 2023. Got rid of ugly overhead power line by putting electric meter in the garage (200 Amp service!) and power now comes from garage to the house via underground cable. And on and on and on and on it goes. So many great upgrades here. We also have two cats and we would give preference to any renters who would agree to let our cats stay here. It's not a deal breaker at all but if you accepted to hold on to our kitties, that might set you in front of other interested renters.
