Furnished Left Room - Ottawa Civic Hospital

Welcome ! Here is an overview of our home:

tl;dr

• 2 bedrooms for med students
• bathroom shared with two rooms
• no parking
• Mini-fridge in room - no access to kitchen fridge
• laundry on weekends 10-5
• spacious room with desk

The House: 

• 3 levels to the home. The two bedrooms that we rent out to medical trainees are on the upper level. Details below.
• On the main floor is the bathroom that is shared by the two bedrooms, kitchen and doors to front or back yards. There is also a living room and office but those are not shared spaces.

Your Room (The  Left Room):

Furnished with:

• queen-sized bed
• spacious dresser
• desk
• Mini-fridge
• Towels and facecloths
• For stays greater than two weeks we offer clean linens every two weeks
• Iron and ironing board

Kitchen:

• You are always welcome to dine at the island or take your food back to your room
• The main fridge is not shared,
• You have a  cupboard shelf to keep your food

Bathroom:

• It has a bath tub and shower, sink and toilet
• You will have space on a shelf to store your toiletries
• We clean the bathroom weekly but ask that you clean up after yourself as needed (leave no evidence!)
• We provide shampoo, conditioner and body wash
• Wash cloths and towels are provided

Laundry:

• A washer and dryer is available for use  weekends 10-5

Outdoor Space:

• In the summer months, we have a beautiful backyard where you can sit outside. And yes the wifi works out back :-)

Parking:

• We do not have parking either in our driveway or on the road as our street is undergoing infrastructure changes

Q. Which Ottawa hospital(s) are you close to?

• 12 - 15 minute walk to the Civic Hospital
• The Heart Institute - 15 minute walk

Q. Who else is in the house?

• Terry and I live here and we have two rooms that we rent to medical personnel. Those rooms are on the upper level and our bedroom is in the basement. Kitchen and bathroom are on the main floor.

Q. Is there a private bathroom?

• The bathroom on the main floor is primarily shared with the other bedroom. We have our own. 

Q. What gender is the person in the other room?

• We typically do not ask people what their gender is. Terry and Darlene are male and female so there will always be multiple genders in the home.

Q. Is there parking?

• Note our street is undergoing infrastructure changes so at the moment there is no street parking available.
• There is only street parking and it is restricted to 2 hours between Monday to Friday 9-5. This means you would need to take your car to work. The Ottawa Hospital website outlines parking costs.

Q. Does the bedroom door lock?

• Soon! As of January 2026 Terry is installing a new door with a lockable handle.
• Please note that we ask for a $25 deposit with the key and will return the deposit when the key is returned.

Q. Are there any animals in the house?

• Nope! We do not have any pets.
